A Charlotte native and percussion whiz, Clarence attended Harding University High School where he was captain of the snare line, the youngest member of the Charlotte Bobcats drumline, and was drumline captain of Drill of Hope drumline, a city drug and alcohol prevention initiative. Clarence went on to attend Winston-Salem State University where he was drumline captain for the Red Sea of Sound Marching Band for 4 years and a member of Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Fraternity.
